Note: Maryland laws only apply to the fully insured market or Maryland Medicaid. To determine if a denial falls within these areas, the patient’s insurance card will indicate either “MIA”, “Maryland Insurance Administration”, “MDH” or “Maryland Department of Health.”

This can typically be found on the back of the insurance card.

Why Do We Want Your Stories?

At the request of the Maryland General Assembly, MedChi is leading a coalition of insurers, pharmacy benefit managers, medical societies, allied health associations, physicians, health care practitioners, and other stakeholders to craft legislation that will address the prior authorization hurdles that harm patients.
